How you play Restoration Shaman

Drop healing totems, keep Riptide rolling, and heal one ally or the whole group at once.

Your buttons, most important first

  1. Healing Stream Totem whenever it is ready. Never let both charges sit full.
  2. Riptide on cooldown, on someone who does not have it yet.
  3. Unleash Life on cooldown if you have it, then Healing Wave on one hurt ally, or Chain Heal when several are hurt.
  4. Nobody needs healing? Flame Shock, Lava Burst, then Lightning Bolt: it costs no mana.
More enemies: Group hurt: Healing Rain under them, then Chain Heal. Big hit coming: Ascendance (or Healing Tide Totem, if you picked that). Someone about to die: Spirit Link Totem.
Biggest mistake: Letting Riptide and Healing Stream Totem sit at full charges: that is free healing thrown away.

Hero talents

Totemic (best this season): Surging Totem replaces Healing Rain. Keep it down where the group stands.
Farseer: Ancestral Swiftness on cooldown: an Ancestor comes to heal with you. Your big cooldown is Ascendance.

From the guides: Icy Veins 10 Aug · Method 11 Aug · Wowhead 5 Sep 2026. A patch can change this.

Group

Buttons you press for someone else or for the whole group. For one person: click their name first, then press the button. The grey note says when a button works differently.

when someone is stuck: rooted, slowed or feared
helps everyone near you at once
makes someone else stronger for a while
when someone has died

Consumables

What to bring for this spec. Point at an item for its tooltip.

Dispel

From your group: debuffs you can remove
From enemies: buffs you can take off

In the game this card knows your character. Every button shows the key it is on for you right now, the lists above drop whatever you have not learned, and your bags are checked for the consumables.
