How to install Midnight Helper
Midnight Helper is free and needs no other addons. Pick one of the two ways below. Both take a few minutes, and nothing in your game changes until you open the addon yourself.
The easy way: the CurseForge app
- Download the CurseForge app from curseforge.com and install it.
- Open the app and choose World of Warcraft. The app finds your game folder by itself.
- Search for Midnight Helper and press Install.
- Start the game, or type
/reloadif it was already running.
The app also keeps the addon up to date. Want new things a few days earlier? Set the release type for Midnight Helper to Beta in the app.
By hand
- Download the zip file from the Files page on CurseForge. Take the newest file marked R (release).
- Close the game.
- Unpack the zip into the AddOns folder of your game:
World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOnsOn a Mac it is in your Applications folder, under the same names. - Check that it ended up right: there must be a folder
MidnightHelperwith the fileMidnightHelper.tocstraight inside it. Not a folderMidnightHelperinside anotherMidnightHelper. - Start the game.
In the game
Log in and type /mh in the chat box. The Midnight Helper window opens. That is all: nothing on your screen or your bars changes until you press a button in that window.
It does not work?
Nothing happens when I type /mh
The game did not load the addon. On the character select screen, press AddOns and check that Midnight Helper is ticked. If it says Out of date, also tick Load out of date AddOns. Then log in again.
Midnight Helper is not in the AddOns list
The folder is in the wrong place, or one folder too deep. Look at step 4 under "By hand": the file MidnightHelper.toc must be directly inside Interface\AddOns\MidnightHelper. Also check that you used the _retail_ folder, not _classic_.
I see an error message
Tell us, also if you are not sure it comes from Midnight Helper. In the game: /mh report, or use the feedback form. What you were doing when it happened helps the most.
